Dayton survived a wire-to-wire grinder, holding off Kansas 59–58 thanks to timely shooting and a dominant night on the glass. Nayo Lear led the Flyers with 16 points, hitting five of her 12 attempts and going 5-for-7 at the line, while Fatima Ibrahim and Ajok Madol combined for 15 rebounds to help Dayton finish with a 46–23 advantage on the boards. Jayda Johnson added nine points off the bench, knocking down three triples that proved critical in a one-point final margin.
Kansas kept pressure on throughout, fueled by balanced scoring from Elle Evans (16), Regan Williams (11) and Lilly Meister (11). The Jayhawks forced 24 Dayton turnovers and turned them into 27 points, nearly flipping the game despite shooting under 40 percent from the field.
Kansas had a chance late, but Dayton’s final defensive stand sealed the result and handed the Flyers a narrow to close out the event.
